Vianet to Build “ULTRA BROADBAND INTERNET” Capable Fiber Network Nation-wide
Vianet Communications P. Ltd., a leading Internet & TV service provider in Nepal, has partnered with Nokia, a world leader in telecommunication network technology, to build “ULTRA-BROADBAND INTERNET” capable fiber network nation-wide connecting 200,000 users by 2019.
“ULTRA-BROADBAND” refers to Internet services that can deliver more than 100Mbps (Megabits per second) speeds per user. Vianet claims that the new partnership will allow them to build up to 2.5 Gbps (Gigabits per second) capable network per subscriber. This means subscribers can seamlessly transition towards the highly demanding Internet applications such as Ultra-High Definition (4k) video content, IPTV, online video streaming sites, virtual reality, and support the growing number of devices that are becoming Internet capable. With the growing demand for high quality content consumption over the internet, Vianet believes it is essential to build a future-proof network to ensure that they are able to provide the best-in-class quality of service to their subscribers.
